Save Some Money - Make Your Own Personalized Labels or Tags

Personalized labels and tags are easy to make, will save you money and will look great!

OK - where to start. Step 1: Start with your computer and check to see if you have programs installed that have the clip art necessary to make these tags. For example, if you have Microsoft Office installed, the clip art that you already have will be perfect. Office clip art has some great flowery borders and tons of wedding images. If you don't have any programs that have clip art you want to use - then just move on to the Internet. Do a quick search for "free wedding clip art". Many websites will pop up and it may be a bit time consuming to find what makes you happy, but in the end, it will be worth it!

Step 2: Now that you have an idea of the clip art you want to use, start laying it out on your computer. Pick a size for the tag that and try and layout as many of those tags on one piece of paper that you can fit. A couple of hints that I have found through the years that works for me, is that I design the tags and lay them out directly next to each other and I try to avoid using straight lines as outside borders (because cutting them later on is difficult).
Step 3: Printing them out. Now you have a couple more decisions to make. I use glossy photo paper to make my tags. It is a bit more expensive to purchase but the tags really do print out looking very nice - but regular paper will do the same exact job. You can also do something a bit different and purchase label paper. If you opt for labels instead of the tags, you will obviously be bypassing a few more steps - you wont have to punch holes in each of the tags and you wont have to cut and tie string to each one of those tags!
Step 4: Cutting and attaching the tags. Obviously the cutting step works a lot easier if you have a paper cutter - if not - good old fashioned scissors work just fine. Once you cut the labels, grab a hole puncher and start punching a hole in each tag. Next, grab the string you have cut into about 3" to 4" lengths and start attching to your favors.
Congratulations - you have just done something very creative & and saved some money!

Start Thinking About Purchasing your Fall Themed Wedding Favors

6/28/2009 Edit This 0 Comments »
Wedding Favors have changed so much in these past few years. There are a variety of companies that manufacture favors and they are all trying to out-do each eachother in coming up with themed favors. As the fall approaches and many brides start to panic about all the little things that have yet to be done for their wedding, favors are usually the last thought.

Favors are important and some thought should go into their purchase. The reality is that they do leave your guests with some impact. Obviously money is always an issue as prices for everything are constantly on the rise. You can buy cheap wedding favors without appearing cheap.

I am always so frustrated when I have an order for favors and the wedding is less than two weeks away - sometimes they are needed in one week! Seasonal favors are always in demand during their particular season. What that means is that the favor you want, if you wait too long to purchase, may go on backorder and be totally unavailable. Please purchase as soon as you can. It's ok if the favors are sitting in the closet for one month waiting - it's not ok if what you want is unobtainable. That's just disappointing. If you are afraid of purchasing too many - don't be - I know that you can't return them - but you can always find little opportunities to give them away; hostess gift, topper for gift, last minute thank you to a colleague ...

When to Purchase Wedding Favors

So the time has come and you now need to order wedding favors for your guests. Where do you begin - there are so many choices. Whatever you decide, give yourself TIME! Time to figure out what favors are appropriate for your budget, your style, your wedding theme and colors, and most importantly time to get the favors before your wedding.

Whether or not you go to a brick and mortar store to place your purchase or if you dig through the internet's hundreds of websites offering wedding favors, the concept is the same, they still have to get shipped and find their way to you.

Websites (otherwise known as dropshippers), that sell wedding favors probably will be your best bet for finding favors that are appropriate for your budget. A brick and mortar store is your best bet for actually holding favors and seeing the quality in person - but you pay for it. Obviously they have an overhead that will be built into your favor price. They will not charge you for shipping, but they will charge you substantially more per favor because, quite simply, they have to. If you decide to order your favors at the store, the favors will get shipped to the store and you will need to go back and pick them up - usually 2 weeks after you order them.

Websites will vary in their pricing - they all seek to compete with each other - which works out great for you! Favor websites work slightly differently than a brick and mortar store. Favors purchased at a website will get shipped to you directly. Please do not be fooled by companies that offer favors at "wholesale prices". Let's get serious now. Favor retailers buy their favors from favor wholesalers for one price and will not then turn around and sell it back to you at that same price - how on earth would they make money doing that! Also, do not get fooled by companies that offer free shipping. More often than not, the price per favor has been bumped up to pay for the shipping. Favor wholesalers do charge favor retailers shipping - who in turn must pass the fees on to you, in some fashion.

Decide on at least 2 to 3 favors that you find appealing and price shop - just remember to compare total price (favor price + shipping = total price). Many companies will have tiered pricing; the larger the quantity you purchase, the greater the savings for you because the per favor price will be slightly cheaper.

Seasonal wedding favors are very popular and a great choice for a favor. The only drawback is that everyone else getting married is deciding the same thing. Seasonal favors go on backorder quickly and may very well be unobtainable - purchase in advance to avoid this disappointment. To reiterate, when you see a favor that is backordered, that means that it cannot be shipped to you any earlier than the date specified. Move on to an alternate choice because no favor company can get it to you any sooner than that date.

Since we have now established that favors get shipped, give yourself time to receive them, go through them and make sure they are all in perfect condition to be given to your guests - at least one month in advance and have fun shopping!
